This simple recipe transforms an almost empty jar of marinara sauce into a delicious tomato basil dressing or dipping sauce. With a few common pantry ingredients, you can whip up this tasty addition to your salads or appetizers.

  • 1 almost empty jar of Pellegrinos Marinara Sauce (jar size typically 24 oz)
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil or Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder


  1. Add Ingredients: Add the olive oil, red wine vinegar, dried basil (or Italian seasoning), garlic powder, and onion powder directly into the almost empty jar of Pellegrinos Marinara Sauce.

  2. Shake the Jar: Secure the lid on the jar tightly and shake well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

  3. Refrigerate: Store the newly made tomato basil dressing in the refrigerator. Let it chill to blend the flavors ideally for about an hour before serving.
